Does my child need acting experience?
No. Brand new and experienced actors are both welcome. Activities are flexible enough to support actors who are just beginning and challenge actors who are ready for more.
What if my child is shy or needs time to join in?
That is completely welcome. Some actors jump in immediately, while others need time to watch and understand the group. We offer different ways to participate and help each young person find an entry point that feels manageable and meaningful.
What do actors do during the day?
Days include drama games, character work, improv, movement, art, outdoor play, and ensemble storytelling. The exact rhythm changes with the age group, weather, and creative direction of the actors.
Is this a film camp?
No. Acting, play, collaboration, and original storytelling are the heart of the program. Many groups create a short movie as a record of their work. Middle school actors may spend more time exploring writing, directing, and filmmaking.
Where does Theater in the Park meet?
Theater in the Park meets at View Ridge Park, 4408 NE 70th Street in Seattle. Exact arrival information will be included in the program confirmation.
What are the program hours?
Standard camp hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Check in begins at 8:55 a.m. Please confirm the schedule on the individual registration page because some programs may differ.
What should my child bring?
Please send a water bottle, sunscreen, lunch, two snacks, and a towel or blanket for sitting outdoors. Label all personal items. Pack food securely because the park crows are very interested in unattended lunches.
What happens if it rains?
We continue outdoors in ordinary Seattle weather, so actors should arrive with clothing and layers appropriate for the forecast. If conditions become unsafe, families will receive an update about any schedule change, early pickup, or cancellation.
Can my child attend more than one week?
Yes. Each ensemble creates new characters and an original story, so every week is different. Returning actors can deepen their skills while meeting a new group and creating something new.
How will I receive program updates?
Important reminders and schedule updates are sent to the email address used for registration. Please make sure your contact information is current and check your inbox before the first day.
